About Marcia Scott

From a very young age I was fascinated with science. So, pursuing a career to study the remarkable biological miracle that is the human body was instinctive. In a healthy state, it functions seamlessly in dynamic synchronization, while constantly adapting to our internal psychological and external physical and social environments. Throughout my career as a health scientist, health educator, and professor, I have applied an understanding of the integrated principles of biological and psychosocial processes on promoting health. For me, yoga is a natural holistic extension and integrative embodiment of these principles. My yoga training and practice includes a focus on alignment, accessibility, and integration of movement with breath.

As a yoga teacher, I offer an adaptive approach to yoga asanas (poses), meeting each student where they are, and allowing students to discover their own level of stability and strength in each pose, while focusing on breath and alignment. During yoga practices, I aspire to create a space that fosters self-acknowledgment, peaceful awareness, and openness to authentic possibilities. I honor my students and all of my yoga teachers, who have progressively opened my mind, body, and spirit to a higher sense of awareness during the course of my 17-year yoga journey. I embody these ideas by exercising patience, compassion, and a life-long love of learning. I welcome students who choose to join me in discovering new revelations along their own yoga journey.
